A core service offered in conjunction with rating list appeals is the application for relief from rates when a property is partially occupied. After an inspection & valuation, an application can be made to the relevant local authority for circumstances such as:
- Phased occupation of a new property
- Refurbishment on a piecemeal basis
- Temporary vacancy following re-structuring
- Stepped vacation of a property
A single application can cover a period of up to six months depending on whether the property is classified as industrial or not. In many cases we have worked closely with the client & local authority and have significantly increased the relief period by making a series of overlapping appeals
Savings will be dependant on the value of the property, the period of vacancy and usage but in a number of circumstances we have reduced the annual rates liability by as much as 90%
